Dance Me to the End of Love

Still from music video, "Dance Me to the End of Love" song by Leonard Cohen
There are some beautiful black and white music videos of Leonard Cohen songs on YouTube. My favorite is this one,
Check it out. It's gorgeous and surreal.
The B& W videos for "Closing Time" and "First We Take Mahattan" are nice as well. I have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again - I listened to Leonard Cohen albums non-stop when I painted my "Little Pierrot" series paintings. So, thanks for helping me along, Mr. Cohen. He was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (about time) and he recently got a mention on American Idol when Jason Castro did a heart-felt version of his incredible song "Hallelujah". Leonard Cohen will set out on a world tour in June, 2008.

I adore Leonard Cohen, too. My favorite album was the one he did with Jennifer Warnes. Famous Blue Raincoat, I think it was called.

I love Halleluja, and I was happy when Jason Castro sang it, but it's been over used in the past few years. It's been used in the score of so many tv shows lately. That almost ruins it for me. Now when I hear it I think about Grey's Anatomy.

I've never seen the videos, but we love Leonard. I had the great good fortune to win 4th row tickets for his Future tour back in Washington DC. An amazing show with brilliant players.

Dance Me to the End of Love is one of my very favorites, and Take this Waltz was the first dance song at our wedding.

Have you heard the most reverent Antony & The Johnsons version of If It Be Your Will?

Or on the irreverent flip-side the Austin Lounge Lizards' song Leonard Cohen's Day Job? "If you want something basic in black, I'm you're man"...
