This is a wierd coincidence I think. Over at Japonism (www.lotusgreenfotos.blogspot.com) Lotus is also showing images of girls with big poppy headbands.
They all remind me of Ozma of Oz, but I guess John R. Neil (oz illustrator from 1904 onward) was just part of the spirit of the time
I like the little guys with wings in this illustration for the Kissing Bug Rag.
