New! Book cover painting (by Crehore) for The Magazine's Book Project on Kickstarter

Just finished this painting- 14" x 18 3/8" oil on wood ©www.amycrehore.com. This was painted as a book cover for a printed book of select stories from The Magazine's first year. A mock-up version appears currently on kickstarter, but this is my final version of the painting. This is a fund raiser for the proposed book. They are also offering an almost full-size limited edition print of this as part of their fundraiser on kickstarter - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/glennf/the-magazine-the-book-year-one

The Richard Balzer Collection

I spent the morning looking at these!
Dick Balzar collects antique magic lanterns, peepshows, shadows, transparencies, thaumatropes, phenakistascopes and other optical toys.
Go to his websites to see his collection of fantastic toys in action and to read the history.
You won't be sorry. So beautiful!

Beautiful polaroids (late studies) by Balthus at Gagosian Gallery
and a new Balthus show at the Met for those lucky enough to be in NYC.
Judith Thurman writes for The New Yorker blog about meeting Balthus in Rome 40 years ago and also posing for his wife (who was also a painter). Interesting! LINK
I love the paintings and drawings of Balthus, as you know if you read this blog.
P.S. Picasso owned a Balthus painting
