Cool Steamroller Prints and a Book

Detail of Silkscreened Book ,"No Man's Land"
Pulling a Steamroller Woodcut Print
The Process of a Steamroller Print

Raphael UHRWEILLER and Mayumi OTERO are students at the ESAD (Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs de Strasbourg). They make beautiful prints. Amazingly, they printed some giant prints with a steamroller (as shown in these photos). And they have a wonderful book out with a zillion colors printed entirely by silkscreen for sale in some Paris shops. See lots more photos at their website for complete details of the book, plus steamroller printing:

Bartolomeo Veneto

Bartolomeo Veneto was painting in the early 1500s. He was a popular portrait artist in Milan by 1520 and probably studied under Bellini. The Getty Museum has a nice painting of a Lady with a Lute. The painting I have shown here is in the Städel museum and it's called “Lucrezia Borgia”. I like the woman's sideways glance, her delicate fingers holding a tiny bouquet and, of course, the one boob exposed is always a classic motif. This painting reminds me of Botticelli. NYC Art Show

I just received this image tonight -it's the promotional card for my show in July (July 25-Aug 24, 2008) at Ad Hoc Art Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. The other artists who will be joining me in this show are Jenn Porreca, Molly Crabapple, Ewelina Ferruso and Lizz Lopez. Can't wait. I've already got my plane ticket. It will be fun to see what these other lovely ladies have up their sleeves. I will be showing six oil paintings of various sizes.

I Love Flickr

I was uploading some photos to flickr today and look what I found -a nice interpretation of my "Roaming Tomcat Rag" painting by Knotty Rhonda starring Bootsy and Meeka!

P.S. I recently added flickr photos and an email subscription link (for those who want to get my blog sent to their email address) to the sidebar of my blog.

In honor of Bo Diddley's recent passing. I do miss those TV shows with go go dancers.
