" Slurp, slurp" (err..what's happening in this one? Is that a straw?) and "ayyy! iplaf" (hit by a rock or a snowball?). To view a page of silly vintage comic sound effects go to flickr. Retronomatopeya has collected a set of them. It's beautiful to behold an entire page of these all in one place. (via That's Right )
Artist Antonio Lopez observes with his wife one of his sculptures "Night", which together with "Day" were installed in Atocha train station in Madrid. Photo: EFE / Ballesteros.Boston Museum of Fine Arts first installed the giant baby heads back in April as part of the current exhibit of Antonio Lopez's work. July 3, 2008- artist Antonio Lopez Garcia supervised the installment of his giant baby head sculptures in the Atocha train station in Madrid. He looks very happy. You can read the story on Art Daily . The Boston Museum of Fine Arts continues it's Antonio Lopez Garcia retrospective exhibit until July 27th, 2008. I wish I could go see this one. He is an amazing artist. Artist Tim Lowly has a tribute page to him on his website .
I'm so glad that I will be able to see the tail end of Ray Caesar's exhibit this month at Jonathan Levine Gallery when I go to NYC for my own show at Ad Hoc Art. I could not find the show images on the gallery site (for some reason it was blank), but I plucked this one from Hi-Fructose. This example shows exactly what I really love about Ray, although his current show looks to be full of experimentation this time. I will be curious to see it. The Art of Amy Crehore
Ukulele detail from "French Bubble Gum Encore" by Amy Crehore Guitar detail from "Black Ball Finale" by Amy Crehore Here are a couple more details of my new paintings showing vintage musical instruments. They were fun to paint! I will be blogging the whole enchilada soon. I think it's nice to pick some details out to show you first. They are like puzzle pieces. I usually have so much going on in my paintings. I scanned some 4x5 transparencies and it's hard to get an exact match of color here. This is pretty good. I'm still messing around in photoshop. I also finished two miniature paintings yesterday and took slides with the frames this morning. And I will blog those as well later on. I have two shows coming up in July - NYC and Las Vegas. I apologize for not blogging more lately, but I have been busy. :) The Art of Amy Crehore
I got this beautiful image from Bibliodyssey blog where they have even more unusual pages from this ancient scrapbook. I love the middle-range tones of these faded colors.
