Plexus, issue 25, June 1969
Cover: painting by Michel Plaisir

Plexus, issue 27, September 1969
Cover: Julie Leblanc

These are great. I have never seen these before! My friend Will over at 50 Watts Blog has acquired a bunch of late 60s-early 70s copies of the French magazine PLEXUS. For more covers like these (and weirder) follow this LINK. Thanks for sharing, Will!
There is even one cover featuring an umbrella that looks a little like a painting (A Curious Shelter) I did last year.

Debbie Reynolds to Auction Off Marilyn's Subway Dress and Chaplin's Bowler Hat

Debbie Reynolds was pretty cute and here she is posing with a ukulele in the 50s (her website: LINK). Who knew she played? Probably for a film role. "Reynolds has amassed a large collection of movie memorabilia and, according to wikipedia, beginning in June and continuing into December 2011, she will auction off this collection. Among the more than 3500 costumes, 20,000 photographs, and thousands of movie posters, costume sketches, and props to be sold are Charlie Chaplin's bowler hat and Marilyn Monroe's white subway dress (skirt is lifted up by the breeze from a passing subway train in the film The Seven Year Itch). The latter is expected to fetch between one and two million dollars."

A mysterious face drawing and how it came to be

What is this? Some kind of face or something? Yes, that's right. It's a mysterious, recurring birthday cake face drawn by the father of Steve (of The Sneeze ). That's my summary of part 1. I'm going to skip ahead to part 2 of the story and, if you have a few minutes, I hope you will read part 2 and part 3 because it's a hilarious story of how this "face" came to be.

Faber Books

Faber Books' photostream on flickr
is fun to look at. For instance, this book
cover, "The Doll Who Came Alive", from their set of classic children's books.
