I know. There's another long video of these same girls- they play all kinds of instruments -accordians, kazoos, violins, horns, the harp, etc. I like the banjo sequence best.

Wonderful, thank you Amy. You're always an inspiration. Was interested to read more about them and found, amongst other things, a whole chapter of a book: "Some liked it hot*: jazz women in film and television, 1928-1959" by Kristin A. Mcgee on line which interestingly compares them to a black all-girls band: The Harlem Playgirls. There are some nice little (unfortunately) photos - one of the band serenading cows! And a lot about them, including how three members, including the lead soloist, Paula Jones, tried to leave the band while on tour in South Africa but were refused permission to stay by the immigration authorities.

*Of course! One of my favourte films.

And thank you for the Haiti post. So terribly sad.
